Paediatrics
Paediatrics is a run-through specialty starting at ST1 and lasting until ST7.
ST1-4: Core Paediatrics
ST5-7: Specialty Training - up to 17 subspecialties to choose from
To apply for ST1 Paediatrics training you must have less than 24 months experience in paediatrics (whole time equivalent, not including Foundation Training) by the advertised post start date for the vacancy. All experience in posts at any level in this specialty count, irrespective of the country the experience is gained. If you have more than 24 months experience please consider ST3 entry to Paediatrics.

Specialty Specific Clinical Skills
Recognition of, and ability to undertake the initial management of, an acutely ill young patient (conditions will be those seen in adult training but applied to child no younger than 6 years of age, and to continue to manage as part of a multidisciplinary team)
Demonstrates an understanding of the rewards and challenges of negotiating and working with children, young people and their parents or carers, in developing management plans
Coping with Pressure and Managing Uncertainty
Describes coping strategies to help with workplace stresses and promote wellbeing

Qualifications
Healthcare related further undergraduate or postgraduate degrees, or postgraduate diplomas and certificates (not including intercalated BSc or ‘Honorary’ MA)
