Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Obstetrics and gynaecology is a run-through specialty training programme which lasts for a minimum of 7 years.
ST1/2
Basic Training - Part 1 MRCOG to be completed
ST3-5
Intermediate Training - Part 2 and 3 MRCOG to be completed
ST6-7
Advanced Training - either 2 Special Interest Training Modules or 1 subspecialty
To apply for ST1 Obstetrics and gynaecology training you must have less than 24 months experience in obstetrics and gynaecology (whole time equivalent, not including Foundation Training) by the advertised post start date for the vacancy. All experience in posts at any level in this specialty count, irrespective of the country the experience is gained. If you have more than 24 months experience please consider ST3 entry to Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Qualifications
Formal academic achievement is not a prerequisite for application to Obstetrics and Gynaecology at ST1 level, but relevant achievements will be considered as part of the overall assessment of an application.
BSc, BA, MSc (not including intercalated BSc or ‘Honorary’ MA)
MD or PhD (NB. Only if awarded for defending a thesis. This equates to undertaking 2-3 years FTE spent in research with minimal daytime clinical activity)
Clinical Skills
Relevant experience in other specialties which would complement a career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Step 1: Longlisting against criteria listed above
Step 2: MSRA examination - all longlisted applicants need to sit the MSRA examination
Step 3: Those scoring highly will not be required to sit an interview and those scoring too low will be removed from the application process
Step 4: Those in between will be required to sit an interview
