Dr Mahul Patel - General Surgery Specialty Registrar and Clinical Trials Investigator. Mahul is an international medical graduate who has firsthand experience navigating the complexities of the UK training system. His journey into the NHS highlighted the need for accessible guidance and support, inspiring the creation of the Global Doctors Network. With additional experience as a General Surgery resident in the United States, Dr. Patel brings a unique perspective on the challenges faced by doctors adapting to new healthcare systems. This project is deeply personal to him, reflecting a commitment to empowering others to overcome similar obstacles and achieve their career aspirations with confidence.

Dr. Maxine Wilkie
Emergency Medicine Registrar
Maxine graduated from Keele University in the UK in 2016, she has worked in the NHS since graduation through foundation jobs and into ACCS training. Whilst working as an Emergency Medicine Registrar she has supported colleagues from both IMG and UK backgrounds into training and career progression. She realised during this process the difficulties faced by doctors in accessing guidance and support to achieve their goals. She is passionate about removing inequities amongst doctors and ensuring doctors from any background can reach their full potential.


Dr. Vimbai Duncan
General Practitioner
Dr Vimbai Duncan is a dedicated General Practitioner with a passion for supporting International Medical Graduates (IMGs) as they navigate and thrive within the UK healthcare system. As an IMG,she has firsthand experience overcoming the challenges of adapting to a new medical landscape, fueling a strong commitment to mentorship and advocacy. In addition to frontline clinical work, Dr Vimbai Duncan serves on the Kent Local Medical Committee, providing a voice for GPs at a local level. As a Clinical Adviser for the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and a Hepatitis C GP Champion, she plays a crucial role in shaping policies and improving patient care. Furthermore, in her role as the IMG Representative on the RCGP Local Faculty Board, she actively promotes leadership opportunities for IMGs, ensuring that internationally trained doctors have the support and representation needed to excel. Driven by a deep passion for inclusion and professional development, she is committed to empowering fellow IMGs, advocating for equitable opportunities, and fostering a community where doctors from all backgrounds can lead, innovate, and succeed.


Dr. Amanda Shabana
General Practitioner
Amanda graduated from Warwick Medical School in 2018 and underwent foundation training followed by core surgical training (plastics themed) before transitioning into GP training. She is a keen advocate for IMGs and believes in equality for all junior doctors. She has guided and supported many trust grade doctors into successfully attaining training jobs both in Surgery and General Practice.
